Final word on Rosebud / Old Loganville rezoning
The proposal to build a gas station and convenience store at Rosebud Road and Old Loganville Road [RZC2007-00045] will be put to rest at tonight’s Board of Commissioners’ meeting.
According to District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau, he intends to honor the applicant’s request to deny the rezoning application. I do not anticipate that anyone from our community will need to attend this meeting; in fact, the applicant’s representative will probably not even be there as well as this case is disposed of.
In a previous email, I described how the applicant requested a “Denial Without Prejudice,” about which I related the common belief that a “DWP” meant that the one-year waiting period for re-application would be waived. Commissioner Beaudreau is under the impression that this is not true; that any form of denial carries with it the one-year wait. He will confirm with county attorneys before tonight’s meeting. Regardless, he stated that it is his intent to deny this case in such a way that the property cannot be the subject of a new rezoning application for at least a year.
Again, thank you for responding to the call for action on this issue. It was your overwhelming response that protected the Rosebud community from a bad development.

New Fire Station Coming
Commissioner Beaudreau reports that property for a new fire station has been purchased in our area and that construction could begin by the end of the year. The Commission recently purchased a tract on the west side of Rosebud Road near the intersection of Rosebud and Brushy Fork Road for the new station. (UPDATE: An area resident believes that the new station will actually be located on Rosebud near Stephens Road.)
The station will not only lower insurance rates for many area homeowners but it will greatly improve fire and EMS services to the community. Currently, calls for service along Rosebud Rd. south of Hwy. 78 are answered by three different stations in Snellville, Grayson and Loganville. Response times are often incredibly slow, usually because of traffic.
